我是英語專業大三的學生，關於小說，讀的時候要注重速度，不要一個一個去查單詞，讀懂大意就行了。因為讀小說的目的一個是了解外國文化，另一個就是培養語感，速度上來了，語感也就增強了，還能練習猜詞的能力，對於上了高年級閱讀一些政治經貿類的英語讀物也會有很大幫助。如果遇到不會的詞就查的話一會打擊自己讀下去的信心，二是對於培養閱讀速度來說是沒有用處的。建議最好讀一些英文通俗小說如：暮光之城，達芬奇密碼等，這樣又會使自己有興趣往下讀，又可以接觸到時下流行的英文。
想要擴大詞彙量是需要專門去背詞的，建議按照專四詞彙，雅思詞彙，專八詞彙，GRE詞彙的順序背。每學期一本，這樣在大二結束時就能掌握14000以上的詞，對於英語學習者就已經足夠了。如果想知道怎麼能堅持下來並且高效率的背詞，建議去看一本書：新東方的「17天攻破GRE單詞」。按照裡面的時間表和方法背，會背的超級快。

閱讀英文小說最好的方法就是泛讀，別為一個不認識的單詞斟酌半天或是查詞典，通讀文章自己去領悟陌生單詞的大意，遇到生詞查字典，長期這樣會形成依賴性的，不推薦你這樣做。讀一本英文小說，別閱讀完一遍就把它仍在一邊，從此就不再看了。你不是說小說裡面都很多生詞嗎，小說看完一遍再看，直到自己熟悉徹底理解這篇小說為止。尤其那些著名的小說，比如像Gone With the Wind 、Whtering Heights、Pride And Prejudice、The Little Prince、The Old Man And the Sea 等都是不錯的閱讀材料，這些對你英文語感的形成大有裨益。閱讀時也別忘了揣摩一下小說作者原汁原味的地道表達和精湛的藝術手法。

仁者見仁,就我個人而言, 我偏好當代中篇作品(我現在選了一本Marcel Pagnol 寫於1957年的<父親的榮耀>, 280pages)
查找網路全書或相應的工具書,了解到作者的生平,作品,世人的評價.
每天閱讀6 pages(6X225=1350字),在閱讀過程中碰到new words先做標記,讀完後再查D, 把生詞記載在本子上,並及時背誦(我現在最怕的就是這一點,會不會半途而廢???)
我准備默讀, 這是我的習慣,朗讀太費盡了,泛讀也沒有意義,介於精泛之間
