『肆』 英文原著《紅字》裡面的英語是什麼發展到時期的英語

霍桑是19世紀的作家，他所使用的應該算現代英語了。我想，英語不是一成不變的，隨著工業革命的全球化擴散，英語也隨之擴散，從而吸收了各地的語言及詞彙來豐富自身。作為一個美國作家，他所使用的英語來自英國，在原有基礎上可能吸收並改造了部分當地的印第安人所使用的語言習慣、詞彙及語法。同時，隨著美國在第二次工業革命中的崛起，美式英語開始蓬勃發展，顯現出與英式英語的區別。建議閱讀書蟲的改寫版《紅字》。其實，現在英語也還處在不斷變化當中。我在閱讀《Pride and Prejudice》的英文原著時，也遇到了類似疑惑，不過比較少。
